Small Blue Cornflowers I

The selected region showcases “Cornflowers I,” a botanical bas-relief plaster tile handmade by British artist Elaine Brett Rowlands. The artwork features a delicate, textured three-dimensional depiction of cornflowers and delicate seed heads rising from the bottom of the square tile. Handcrafted using a process where real plants are pressed into clay before casting, the design is accentuated with muted blue rolled acrylic paint that pools beautifully in the recessed details to create shadows and a stark, icy contrast against the chalky white background. The tile is signed and numbered directly on the white mount as part of a limited edition run of 150 pieces. It is presented in a clean, square white frame, resting outdoors against a rustic, sunlit stone wall that emphasises the natural, tactile essence of the artwork.
