Alex Webster

Bill's Yard is a charming and artisan wood workshop nestled in the picturesque South Hams region. Alex Webster's aim is to blend traditional craftsmanship with modern woodworking techniques, resulting in a diverse array of hand turned and crafted items that enhance your home. His collection includes everything from, small, turned, wooden pots, elegantly designed wooden chairs, wooden stools and stylish, woodturned lamps and benches. The timber he uses is thoughtfully sourced from trees that grow locally in and around the scenic Dart Valley in South devon. Many of these trees, originally earmarked for firewood, have valuable histories embedded in their grains, telling the tale of their growth and the environment they thrived in. He takes great care in selecting the ideal timber for each project, ensuring that the natural characteristics of the wood guide our creative process. Alex Webster's approach is holistic and sustainable; he collaborates closely with professional tree surgeons and local landowners to ensure responsible sourcing and utilisation of timber. He takes pride in milling the wood himself, providing a comprehensive tree-to-home service that emphasises quality at every stage. From the moment you browse our extensive wood library to select the right board, we ensure that each subsequent step—milling, shaping, jointing, and finishing—is handled with meticulous care and precision. Each handcrafted item he creates in wood reflects his dedication to craftsmanship, sustainability, and the rich history of the materials he uses. By choosing Bills Yard, you’re not just purchasing furniture; you’re embracing a beautifully crafted story that will last for generations!
