Colin Hawkins

Colin Hawkins has been working with glass for over 30 years, bringing extensive training, experience and a deep understanding of the medium to his practice. Since 1998, he has developed a distinctive approach to glassmaking, combining technical expertise with a strong sense of observation and place. In his recent work, Colin has turned increasingly to the countryside as a source of inspiration. The changing light across Cotswold fields, the subtle colours and textures of lichen on an old stone wall, and the fleeting impressions found within the landscape all provide starting points for his glassmaking. Through observation, photography and drawing, Colin records these details before translating them into glass. His latest collections explore how colour, light, texture and form can capture the atmosphere of a landscape, transforming familiar natural details into contemporary pieces that invite closer contemplation. Colin continues to explore the possibilities of glass through a process that combines craftsmanship, experimentation and a close connection to the natural world around him.
