Large black and white ceramic vase – blue
This striking, handmade porcelain vessel by local ceramicist Mandy Race features an elegant, gently tapering form paired with a wonderfully tactile surface. The white porcelain body is wrapped in bold, monochromatic tones, carefully hand-carved using the traditional sgraffito technique to strip away layers of black slip and reveal the clean clay beneath. This process forms a highly expressive, multi-directional pattern reminiscent of feathers, palm fronds, or organic geological formations. Grounding the graphic monochrome aesthetic, a band of deep indigo blue anchors the base of the pot, introducing a quiet layer of coastal-inspired contrast. Striking enough to stand alone as a sculptural gallery piece, this unique pot is perfectly suited for showcasing dry autumn stems, grass stems, or small, structural twigs.
