Seal family – Saggar Fired Ceramics

This endearing, hand-sculpted ceramic seal trio by local Totnes ceramicist Mandy Race beautifully captures the serene spirit of Devon’s coastal wildlife. Expertly hand-built with fluid, reclining lines, the three seals are arranged in a naturalistic, huddled cluster as if basking together on a shoreline rock. Their matte, tactile surfaces feature delicate washes of sea-green and soft ocean-grey across their heads and backs, artfully mimicking the tones of wild seals resting along the coast. Enhanced by the unpredictable, smoky atmosphere of saggar firing, the sculptures are finished with organic carbon markings and subtle mottling, ensuring this coastal statement piece possesses its own entirely unique character.

Dimensions are approximately: 10cm x 21cm
